Those of us living in the hurricane belt are well-aware of the potential hazards a storm can pose to paper records and digital data. The most likely concerns are water damage and communications failure, both of which are fairly easy to mitigate with proper storage and reliable backup/failover procedures.

But planning for business continuity and disaster recovery is about more than hurricanes. There are other natural disasters for which we can prepare – the recent earthquakes were a jarring reminder of the possibilities, however infrequent they may be.
